OVERVIEW
For citizens to have a unique official identification record in digital media, for ease of access, and effectiveness in procedures, the Mexico City government designed the Llave CDMX. It is a set of tools composed of: an electronic file, a citizen file, an interoperability rail, a single sign-on, and the electronic signature of Mexico City with all personal data protected under the established city standards.
In obtaining the verified Llave CDMX account, multiple digital procedures can be carried out. Among them, requests for a digital driver’s license, proof of permanent disability, digital complaints, and many others have been included. Administrative work and all of the digital procedures become more efficient, simple, ecological, and cost effective for both government and citizenry.
FEATURES
- All the procedures that are digitized or are in the process of digitization with the Llave CDMX Key can be consulted here: https://tramites.cdmx.gob.mx/inicio/
- In confronting the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Llave CDMX was part of the acceleration strategy of the Digital Government. It provided a solution in avoiding crowded offices and even in reducing the necessity of leaving home.
- There are three levels for the validation of the account, the basic one is done with a unique citizen identification number. A second level is achieved through a security code sent by SMS or email, and with a signature validated through the Mexico City electronic signature.
- New procedures and services can be initiated without the necessity of re-submitting the same documents by the government agency requesting them.
KEY RESULTS
The Digital Agency for Public Innovation of Mexico City has been in charge of design and creation of the Llave CDMX. In 2020, as part of the acceleration of the Digital Government strategy and in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, a calendar for the digitization of government procedures was created. The Llave CDMX would be used to make possible the visualization of the strategy’s progress, to the point that more than five procedures were digitized each month. As of March 2021, more than 1.5 million users have been registered.
