WeGO Welcomes Leshan Municipal Delegation for Strategic Exchange
[Seoul, Jun 18, 2026]– The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) welcomed a delegation from the Leshan Municipal Government to its Secretariat in Seoul on 18 June 2026, affirming both sides’ shared commitment to advancing smart and sustainable urban development through international cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The delegation was led by Mr. Wen Su, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China Leshan Municipal Committee, and met with WeGO representative Dr. Kakim Danabayev, Senior Program Officer. During the meeting, the two sides explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in smart city development, green innovation, and capacity building.
WeGO introduced its mission and key initiatives, including the Seoul Smart City Prize, Smart Life Week, and the upcoming 7th WeGO General Assembly, highlighting these platforms as opportunities for Leshan to engage with a global network of cities and partners committed to sustainable urban innovation.
The Leshan delegation presented the city’s vision for future development, emphasizing its unique combination of rich cultural heritage and modern industrial growth. With more than 2,600 years of history and three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Mount Emei, the Leshan Giant Buddha, and the Dongfeng Weir Irrigation System, Leshan is pursuing a development strategy centered on industrial innovation and tourism while preserving its cultural legacy. The delegation also highlighted the city’s growing strengths in photovoltaic energy storage and green chemicals, underscoring its commitment to green and sustainable development.
Recognizing the strong alignment between Leshan’s development priorities and WeGO’s mission, both sides expressed their intention to deepen cooperation. Discussions included facilitating exchanges between WeGO leadership and Leshan officials, encouraging Leshan’s participation in major WeGO events such as the 2026 Smart Life Week, the upcoming 7th WeGO General Assembly, and the next cycle of the Seoul Smart City Prize. WeGO also expressed its readiness to showcase Leshan’s sustainable development achievements through its international network and to foster connections with Korean and global partners to support future project opportunities.
The visit marks an important step toward expanding cooperation between WeGO and the Leshan Municipal Government and reflects WeGO’s continued commitment to connecting cities, sharing knowledge, and promoting innovative solutions for sustainable urban development worldwide.
