WeGO and The Hague Explore Opportunities for Future Collaboration
[Seoul, August 24th, 2026] – The World Smart Cities Organization (WeGO) welcomed H.E. Jan van Zanen, Mayor of The Hague, and representatives from the City of The Hague for a meeting at the WeGO Secretariat to explore opportunities for future collaboration in the field of smart cities and international cooperation.
The meeting brought together representatives from WeGO and The Hague to exchange perspectives on their respective initiatives, areas of expertise, and shared interests in advancing innovative and sustainable urban development.
During the meeting, WeGO introduced its key programs and global initiatives, including the Seoul Smart City Prize, WeGO Champions program, and the upcoming 7th WeGO General Assembly. On the other hand, The Hague shared its experience as an international city with a strong ecosystem in innovation, technology, cybersecurity, and international cooperation.
Both sides expressed interest in strengthening their engagement and identifying opportunities for collaboration through relevant programs, initiatives, and international events. The discussion also highlighted the potential for greater connections between WeGO and European cities and networks.
Looking ahead, WeGO and The Hague agreed to remain in close contact and explore opportunities for mutual participation and engagement in 2027, including through relevant events and initiatives.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of both organizations in fostering international cooperation and knowledge exchange toward more innovative, connected, and sustainable cities.
