WeGO Secretary General pays courtesy call to Afghan Ambassador

February 18, 2019

SEOUL – This morning, WeGO’s Secretary General Kyong-yul Lee visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Seoul, where he held a meeting with the recently appointed
ambassador.

The meeting with H.E. Hakim Atarud took place amid WeGO’s efforts to more actively engage locally based diplomatic missions in its activities.

Ambassador Atarud spoke about capital city Kabul’s urban development plans, for which Secretary General Lee offered WeGO’s support as related to smart cities.

Ties have existed between Afghanistan and WeGO since 2017 when the Kabul joined as a city member. In November last year, the Engineering School of Kabul University also became a
member of WeGO.
