In continuation of the successfully implemented WeGO Smart City Champions, conducted from March to June this year, WeGO aims to expand its mission of promoting people-centered smart cities and empowering youth as future leaders of tomorrow to WeGO members. Essentially, the Smart City Champions is a youth program aiming to build the capacity of young people around the world in the fields of urban development, sustainability, and smart cities. In this respect, WeGO has partnered with Korea University’s Graduate School of Energy and Environment in the second half of the year to launch the course on “Smart City and Energy Transition – Energy Expert Seminar”, starting from September.

WeGO Secretary General takes part in the Sustainable Cyber Environment Workshop held at the Seoul Global Center International Conference Hall. The event was co-hosted by the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO), the UN Global Compact Network Korea, Bright Internet Consortium, Chung-Ang University Cyber-Physical Space Purification Research Project team, and KAIST Bright Internet Research Center.

Last week Korea welcomed foreign delegations visiting Seoul to attend the World Smart City Expo 2022. WeGO had the opportunity to receive some of these foreign representatives, including delegations from Iran, the Taipei Computer Association and Wellington City Council. Very fruitful meetings to exchange ideas on smart city development and discuss cooperation areas.

WeGO’s Secretary General took part in the opening ceremony of the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center, an initiative by the Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) aimed to make visiting Bukhansan a more convenient and enjoyable experience for visitors. The event, organized by STO with the support from WeGO, attracted numerous visitors and was attended by the Mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon, Ambassadors from foreign countries in Korea, and other relevant stakeholders in the tourism sector.
