WeGO Marks HIMUN’s 50th General Assembly with Continued Partnership
[Seoul, August 22, 2026] — The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) took part in the 50th General Assembly of the HUFS International Model United Nations (HIMUN), hosted by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) at Obama Hall on the university’s Seoul Campus. WeGO has been invited to the Assembly for two consecutive years.
Founded in 1958, HIMUN is Korea’s longest-running Model United Nations program, holding a public General Assembly each year on major issues facing the international community. This year’s Assembly, marking its milestone 50th edition, was held under the theme “International Standards of Economic Security and the Reconstruction of Global Supply Chains,” with delegates from seven countries – South Korea, the United States, China, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia.
During the Assembly, WeGO’s Secretary General, Jeong-kee Kim, delivered a congratulatory remark on site. In his remarks, the Secretary General thanked HIMUN for the continued invitation and introduced WeGO’s youth-focused Sustainable Smart City Champions Program, encouraging students in attendance to take part in its various global opportunities for young people via online courses and offline workshops.
The Assembly also featured a certificate ceremony, during which WeGO’s Program Manager, Lii Inn Tan, presented WeGO Certificates to five students recognized for their outstanding contributions to the preparation of the General Assembly. WeGO’s participation was further reinforced by the inclusion of a promotional page for the WeGO Champions Seoul Workshop and Global Youth Award – both to be held during Seoul Smart Life Week this October – in HIMUN’s official program book, distributed to all attendees.
The event offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen WeGO’s ongoing partnership with HIMUN while extending the reach of the Champions Program to a new generation of university students engaged in global affairs and diplomacy.
