WeGO Holds a Special Lecture on the Topic of Housing by the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the Champions Program
[Seoul, May 22, 2026] – The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) was honored to host an exclusive online lecture, featuring the Director of Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Rental Housing Division, Mr Kim Jang-Yeol. The session focused on the Mirinae House initiative, an innovative and sustainable housing solution specifically designed to support newlywed residents without homeownership in Seoul.
Through this session, WeGO and its President City, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, demonstrated their joint commitment to advancing smart, sustainable urban development through knowledge exchange and capacity building.
The lecture was organized as part of the WeGO Sustainable Smart City Champions Program, a capacity-building initiative designed to empower students and young leaders by enhancing their skills in the field of smart city development. Through this program, the next generation of urban innovators gains access to best practices and expert knowledge in smart and sustainable urban development. This lecture is part of Part 4 “Shaping the Future of Housing” of the Champions expert-led online lectures series, with all sessions available free of charge on cityresiliencetraining.com.
During the session, Director Kim outlined how the Mirinae House initiative addresses immediate housing needs for newlyweds while contributing to Seoul’s broader smart city objectives — including data-driven urban management, inclusive community development, and long-term demographic resilience. With over 3,500 units allocated, the program offers a replicable model for cities facing similar urban housing pressures.
The full lecture is now available on YouTube and alongside the other lectures on cityresiliencetraining.com. WeGO encourages students, young leaders, and stakeholders interested in learning about practical approaches to sustainable housing to view the presentation.
