ABOUT
In 2019, WeGO undertook a series of activities to support ASCN cities through matchmaking with partners, consultants, and solution providers, through a workshop for knowledge sharing and a mayoral conference with signing ceremonies for partnerships. In 2020, along with its continued support of ASCN, WeGO embarked on a new initiative to establish a network of smart cities in Northeast Asia, including capitals and other major cities across China, Korea, Mongolia and Russia.
In the coming year, WeGO will continue pushing for regional cooperation for the development of smart cities in Latin America and Africa.

Africa Smart City Network (AFSCN)
According to projections by UNDESA, 60% of the population of Africa will live in urban areas by 2030, with 13 of the 20 most populous cities in the world located in Africa by the end of the century (Global Cities Institute). ASCN
ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN)
About ASCN
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN.
In 2018, 26 pilot cities from the 10 ASEAN Member States took on an initiative of establishing the ASEAN Smart City Network (ASCN),which is an international, interurban platform for cities to work together toward smarter and more sustainable cities across the region.
All of the ASCN members developed Smart City Action Plans (SCAPs) as well as priority projects specific to each of the cities. Each SCAP consists of the following four components: vision, focus areas, strategic targets, and priority projects.

LASCN
Latin America Smart Cities Network (LASCN)
With 80% of its population living in the cities, Latin America is experiencing various challenges in urban development such as the population density, pollution, water management, waste management, internet accessibility, public safety, digital divide, mobility, open government and citizen participation. Despite the vast diversity and extension of the region, many of the challenges the cities face today share similarities in nature. Taking advantage of such characteristics, the regional cooperation promotes knowledge sharing among the cities and accelerates smart sustainable development of the cities in the region.
WeGO will take the initiative to establish LASCN and serve as its international platform to improve the quality of life, innovate in the delivery of public services, and strengthen regional competitiveness.
The LASCN is envisioned as an open-ended regional network of city and other local governments across Latin America that will serve as a platform to exchange knowledge and foster cooperation on smart city development in the region.
