Abu Dhabi has launched a new application “Stay Home” to ensure that people asked to self-quarantine adhere to mandatory quarantine requirements. The app will periodically send notifications asking the individuals to check-in. The user then has to take a photo on the app to finalize the check-in process. The app is expected to help the government contain the spread and impact of the COVID-19.
FEATURES
- If an individual is identified for home quarantine, he or she will be asked to download the app from either Google Play or Apple Store. A username and password are also provided. Once the app is downloaded, the user must enable access to camera, media, location, audio and calls for the app to work correctly. The app will periodically send notifications asking the individuals to check-in. The user then has to take a photo on the app and finalize the check-in.
- The app will help to verify whether the individual has violated compulsory quarantine measures which is punishable by jail terms and fines between AED 10,000 ($2720) and AED 50,000 ($13,610).
ONGOING RESULTS
- The app is expected to enable the government to stay informed of the whereabouts of people who are in mandatory home quarantine and ensure that the conditions of the quarantine are not violated, with the final aim to contain the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
