Jongkyu Park

Dr. Jongkyu Park is a seasoned expert in international development cooperation and development finance with over three decades of experience spanning government policy, international finance, and academic research. He currently serves as a Research Professor at Korea Polytechnic University and as an Invited Research Fellow at the Center for International Development Cooperation at the Korea Development Institute (KDI).

Dr. Park played a pivotal role in shaping Korea’s development cooperation landscape through his distinguished career at the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank), where he served in key leadership positions. These included Deputy President in charge of Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) operations, overseeing project planning, evaluation, and coordination with multilateral development banks (MDBs), as well as country-specific development strategies. He also led Korea’s overseas development finance initiatives in Southeast Asia and Africa, and represented the Bank in multilateral partnerships. His final role at Korea Eximbank was as Senior Advisor until his retirement in 2025.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Park held leadership roles in EDCF policy development, institutional reform, and public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives. He was also posted abroad as the Chief Representative at the Bank’s Hanoi Office, managing Korea’s bilateral development programs in Vietnam. In addition to his extensive field experience, Dr. Park is actively engaged in academic and advisory work. He has lectured on international development at Korea Polytechnic University and continues to contribute to national policy dialogue through roles at KDI and other institutions.

Dr. Park holds a Ph.D. in International Development Cooperation from Kyung Hee University, a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from KAIST, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Sogang University. His contributions to Korea’s international development efforts have been recognized with the Order of Civil Merit (Mugunghwa Medal) in 2021 and a Ministerial Citation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 2010.

With his interdisciplinary background and leadership across public, private, and academic sectors, Dr. Park remains a leading figure in advancing Korea’s role in global development cooperation.
