
Euidal Song (Ed Song)
Dr. Euidal Song is a prominent expert in political journalism, U.S. politics, and media innovation, with over three decades of experience spanning leading news organizations, academic institutions, and global affairs. He currently serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Seoul’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies, where he teaches media and American politics.
Dr. Song built a distinguished career as a senior journalist at The Chosun Ilbo, one of Korea’s leading newspapers, where he worked from 1990 until his retirement in early 2024. During his tenure, he held a wide range of editorial leadership roles, including Chief Editor of Industry News, Head of the Digital News Division, Deputy Managing Editor, and Editor of Weekly Biz. He also served as CEO of Chosun Biz, the group’s business-focused media outlet, from 2016 to 2017.
Dr. Song has extensive international experience, having served as The Chosun Ilbo’s Hong Kong Correspondent from 2004 to 2008 and completed an in-house training program at The Washington Post headquarters in 1999. He was also invited as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. and participated in the Fellows Program at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Throughout his career, Dr. Song has conducted exclusive interviews with prominent global leaders, including Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, SoftBank Chairman Masayoshi Son, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, and McKinsey Chairman Dominic Barton.
He is a prolific author of nine books, including recent titles such as The Divine Intervention: A Deep Dive into Donald Trump (2024), The Digital Revolution of the New York Times (2021), and The Power of Outperformers (2023). His earlier works such as Lobby America (2007) and The U.S. Congress That Moves the World (2000) have been widely cited for their deep analysis of American political institutions.
Dr. Song earned his B.A. and M.A. in Political Science from Seoul National University and holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Dongguk University. His academic and professional endeavors continue to shape discourse on political communication, international affairs, and media transformation in Korea and beyond.
