WeGO Successfully Concluded the WeGO-Chengdu Smart City Training Program 2024

Chengdu, China –The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) Secretariat in collaboration with the WeGO East Asia Regional Office, which is hosted by the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, successfully concluded the WeGO-Chengdu Smart City Training Program 2024. With the theme of “Smart Mobility and Logistics”, the Training Program aims at building the capacity of government officials in their planning of smart development with policies and measures that are well thought-through and cross-referenced, especially in terms of smart mobility and logistics.

The Training Program was carried out from 4th to 8th November 2024 in Chengdu, China, and received participations from a total of ten (10) government officials from seven (7) WeGO Member Cities, namely Almaty (Kazakhstan), Bangkok (Thailand), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Bucharest (Romania), Nairobi (Kenya), Seberang Perai (Malaysia), and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia). Throughout the program, participants gained knowledge through different lecture sessions that highlighted the overview of smart city development in Chengdu, the digital intelligence-enabled smart mobility in Chengdu, and the development of smart logistics in Chengdu. 

In addition, the government officials that attended the Training Program also had the precious opportunity to practically learn the latest trend of smart initiatives in Chengdu through various on-site visit sessions in CRRC Chengdu, Jindong Logistics, Chengdu Rail Transit Line 19 Muhua Road Station, Huati Lighting Technology, Southwest Jiaotong university, and Chengdu Planning Exhibition Hall. The initiatives related to smart mobility and logistics were impressively showcased to all participants throughout the on-site site visit sessions. 

At the end of the Training Program, there was a session for all participants to share with each other their insight that gained throughout the course in Chengdu. The participants also delivered presentations related to the development of smart mobility and logistics in their respective cities. Through this interactive session, all participants not only are able to gain practical knowledge related to the latest initiatives implemented in Chengdu, but also able to learn from each other the experience shared from different cities around the world. WeGO looks forward to welcoming more government officials to join in the training program in its next editions to further promote the smart and sustainable development in the international stage.
