Seoul, January 11, 2024 –  WeGO (World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization) is participating in the 2024 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held from January 9-12, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. CES is one of the most renowned and influential tech events featuring breakthrough technologies from all over the world. The theme for CES 2024, “ALL TOGETHER, ALL ON,” emphasizes the power of new technology on society and in improving the lives of people. Its emphasis on “Human Security for All” aligns with WeGO’s vision in promoting the advancement of smart city technology to serve every citizen.

On Day 1, WeGO joined Seoul during the opening ceremony of the Seoul booth at CES, featuring esteemed guests such as Mr. Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, and Mr. Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of Consumer Trade Association (CTA), the organizer of CES.

Mayor Oh emphasized the crucial role of creating environments and resources to foster innovation, particularly for startups and businesses. He highlighted events like CES as vital platforms for sharing ideas and inspirations essential for driving innovation.

WeGO utilized the opportunity to explore exhibition booths, actively promoting the Seoul Smart City Prize. This initiative, in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, identifies and recognizes projects that focus on technological innovation or human-centric application of smart city technology.

Secretary-General Ms. Jung Sook Park led a tour of the booth located in the Eureka Park at the Venetian Expo. Engaging with various business representatives, WeGO identified solutions spanning AI, smart cities, digital health, agriculture, mobility, and sustainability.

Introducing the Seoul Smart City Prize, with the updated brochure for the 2nd Seoul Smart City Prize 2024, WeGO witnessed significant interest, with around 24 businesses confirming their participation. The application process for the Prize is set to open this March.

During CES 2024, WeGO had the honor of sharing insights about the Seoul Prize with the Mayor of Fullerton, California, the Mayor of Seongnam City, and the Mayor of Eunpyeong district, Seoul.

The day concluded with WeGO’s participation in the Seoul Innovation Forum 2024 where Mayor Oh highlighted the success of the Seoul Smart City Prize 2023 and provided a glimpse into the upcoming Prize in 2024, which will be held during the Seoul Smart Life Week in October 2024.
