Seoul, August  19thThe WeGO Secretariat met a distinguished delegation of 13 members from Makati City headed by City Councilor Armando Padilla during their visit from Makati City to Seoul. The visit was a key component of the “Leadership Program on Legislation for Climate Action and Sustainability”, organized by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), aimed at empowering the City Councilors of Makati City with the knowledge and tools needed to drive transformative change in their community.

During the visit, the WeGO Secretariat delivered a comprehensive presentation showcasing WeGO’s impactful initiatives. The presentation highlighted various policies and projects successfully implemented across WeGO’s member cities, providing valuable insights into best practices in smart city solutions. An interactive Q&A session followed, allowing the delegation to explore how these initiatives might be adapted and applied within Makati City. 

 

The delegation expressed strong interest in several of WeGO’s key programs, including feasibility study, the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Index Report, the WeGO Sustainable Smart City Champions, and various specialized training programs. Their enthusiasm underscored the potential for meaningful collaboration between Makati City and WeGO, particularly in alignment with their legislative priorities and sustainability goals.

City Councilor Armando Padilla emphasized the importance of this engagement, stating, “Our visit to WeGO has been incredibly enlightening. The knowledge and initiatives shared by WeGO will undoubtedly help us shape more effective and sustainable policies in Makati City. We are eager to explore future opportunities to work closely with WeGO to achieve our shared vision for a smarter, more sustainable urban environment.”
