WeGO Launches Training Program for 1st Seoul Smart City Prize Winners  

 

Seoul, June 19th, 2024WeGO is delighted to announce the commencement of its International Training Program for the winners of the 2023 Seoul Smart City Prize, in partnership with its President City Seoul and its long-term partner, the Seoul Human Resource Development Center (SHRDC). The program begins today, June 19th, with an online orientation and will have multiple lectures throughout the coming weeks, concluding with an intensive offline course in Seoul this October. 

This year’s training program is designed to equip the prize winners with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement innovative smart city solutions in their respective cities. The curriculum includes an initial online phase from June 19th to July 9th, followed by a comprehensive in-person segment in Seoul from October 7th to 11th. The Training Program is connected to the 2nd Seoul Smart City Prize Ceremony and Smart Life Week opening in Seoul.

This program is curated to offer theoretical and practical insights. Participants will engage in interactive sessions, case studies, and on-site tours facilitated by experts in smart city development. Participants can choose from the 5 courses for Self-Directed E-Learning among 1) Smart City Strategy and Digital Basic Rights;

2) Seoul’s ODA Introduction; 3) Seoul Learn Social Mobility Ladder; 4) Toward Self-Driving Mobility; 5) The Climate Card. 

Additionally, there will be two live sessions conducted by WeGO’s partners, Professor Moon Myung Jae, Professor at Yonsei University and Chairman of the Seoul Prize Organizing Committee, his session will be on the Action Plan submitted by participants and Danil Kerimi, Co-Founder of Edgelands Institute and Chief WeGO Advisor of WeGO as well as Member of the Seoul Prize Organizing Committee.

The training program kicks off with a virtual orientation today, setting the stage for three weeks of dynamic online learning. The second phase of the program will take place in Seoul, where participants will immerse themselves in learning through each other’s city projects. This on-site training will include guided tours, lectures, and networking opportunities with experts in the smart city field.

You will have the opportunity to meet fellow professionals from around the world, exchange ideas, and potentially collaborate on projects that can make our cities smarter and more sustainable.” stated Secretary General of WeGO, Jung-Sook Park.

WeGO’s long term partner, the SHRDC is committed to international cooperation and knowledge exchange to drive the global smart city movement. WeGO and SHRDC have run the Smart City Training Program for WeGO members together since 2011. 

This time, by providing this unique training opportunity to the Seoul Smart City Prize winners, WeGO and SHRDC aims to empower urban leaders with the tools and insights needed to create smarter, more sustainable cities worldwide.
