GENEVA – During WeGO’s visit in Geneva, WeGO had the wonderful opportunity to have a dialogue interview with the President of Le Temps, Yves Daccord. 

Le Temps is a Swiss French-language daily newspaper published in Geneva by Le Temps SA. It is the sole nationwide non-specialised daily newspaper of Switzerland.

Mr. Yves Daccord stated the significance of human-centered smart cities through the trust that resides among the citizens and city authorities. In virtue of fundamental entrustment, the responsibility lies in the mayor and citizens in cities to communicate and identify a space for community-specific issues.   

As the Seoul Smart City Prize accentuates human-centeredness in the core theme,  Mr. Daccord highly encouraged cities to join together to share notes and seek successful solutions. Mr. Yves Daccord and Secretary General of WeGO shared the importance of individuals in building safer and sustainable cities in the 4th industrial revolution era. Blessings were made for the launch of the Seoul Smart City Prize.

Yves Daccord, also serves as the Executive Chairman of Edgelands Institute which is the pioneering pop-up Institute incubated at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society to imagine the terms of new social contracts that work for cities and people in the age of pandemics and digital surveillance.

Yves Daccord is a renowned humanitarian leader, international strategist, influencer and changemaker. From 2010 to 2020 Yves was Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a global humanitarian organization employing 20,000 staff. A former journalist, TV producer and international relations expert. Yves co-chairs presently the #Principles4Peace initiative and is member of the Board of Trustees of ODI a leading global affairs think tank working to inspire people to act on injustice and inequality.
