 WeGO and The Korea Times Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

SEOUL – WeGO and The Korea Times signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to explore a new partnership on setting a global agenda in smart sustainable development leveraging the expertise and network of both respective professional communities.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of WeGO, Jung Sook Park and CEO & Publisher of The Korea Times, Young-jin Oh.

WeGO and The Korea Times will collaborate in addressing the rapidly evolving landscape of smart cities with focused topics ranging from digital identity, ESG, cybersecurity to digital inclusion. Both organizations aim to raise awareness of digital citizens and promote citizen centric smart city initiatives.

“Today is a very meaningful day. The Korea Times and WeGO are organizations with uniform direction. Established 72 years ago, The Korea Times has the objective to notify the world about Korea. WeGO aims to spread global awareness about Seoul, cities, digitalization and sustainability. The two organizations should not only provide information to the world but share valuable insight Korea and Seoul has. Today marks conjoining efforts through signing this MOU.” said the CEO Oh.

“After working as a special representative for The Korea Times ten years ago, sharing K-culture, multiculturalism to global citizens, the role has led me to represent WeGO, a global organization of smart cities located in Seoul, an important medium for city governance. As The Korea Times is a channel for Korea and the global community, WeGO anticipates The Korea Times to act as a significant bridge and go together through media.” said the Secretary General Park.

WeGO has the mission to serve as a leading smart city organization in fostering the knowledge sharing among global smart city stakeholders that will in hand empower the citizen led smart city development. The Korea Times is Korea’s oldest reputable newspaper providing credible news for inquisitive readers worldwide.    

This MoU will be a milestone for bringing smartness and accountability in the smart city industry.
