SEOUL –WeGO participated in the ‘Smart City Best Practices IT Webinar’, organized by corporate member SRPOST, with the support from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) under their Global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program.
Approximately 70 representatives from large private sector actors and government agencies from Korea and the Philippines took part in the event. The webinar aimed at introducing Korea’s smart city expertise and initiatives to Filipino stakeholders, and fostering knowledge exchange to strengthen the ties between both countries, as Filipino participants shared their smart city projects experience and plans.
During the event, WeGO introduced its vision, mission and main activities, in particular the opportunities related to project implementation through the WeGO Smart City Driver, and its regional network activities including with ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN). The connections WeGO established with leading Filipino smart city stakeholders are expected to lead to future collaboration.
Member of WeGO since 2018, SRPOST implemented a WeGO feasibility study program in Kampala, Uganda, in 2019 in the area of smart parking, and another small-scale feasibility study for Bharatpur within the same program. Their solutions have been implemented by the government in Korea, and they are expanding overseas in various regions.
