SEOUL – This afternoon, WeGO signed an MOU with Kookmin University which covers cooperation on two new flagship programs WeGO will launch in 2022.
The ceremony took place at Kookmin University, in the presence of WeGO’s President and Mayor of Seoul Se-hoon Oh who visited the school to give a special lecture on the Seoul Vision 2030.
The main program in focus in the MOU is the “WeGO Champions”, a youth program that aims to educate young people on the topic of smart city, such as the general trends and policies, to prepare them for the job market in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Kookmin University is one of the major universities in Seoul which will participate in this new initiative. Other universities outside of South Korea will be invited to join the program subsequently as well.
In addition, the cooperation between WeGO and Kookmin University entails joint research, as the two organizations have agreed to work together to collect smart city best practice cases around the world and jointly develop a smart city indicator for cities and local governments.
Mayor Oh welcomed the partnership between the two organizations, and expressed his hope that the WeGO Champions program become a ‘first-mover’—a pioneer platform that helps young people get high-quality jobs. He also revealed his wish that this new initiative would enable cities around the world and young people to learn more about Seoul’s smart city best practice.
