WeGO continues boosting ties with NEOM
Seoul, July 26, 2023 – The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization visited a roadshow held before the opening ceremony of NEOM’s first Asian country exhibition in Seoul. WeGO brought corporate members and partners from private and state-run enterprises to join the event and enhance potential partnerships with NEOM including high-levels from Hancom Group, Vueron Technology, Seoul Digital Foundation, Favors, Qaddumi, and Dwelling.
The Secretary General of WeGO not only highlighted the importance of the WeGO-NEOM Partnership in fostering smart sustainable development in the region but also emphasized the importance of the people element in smart cities. Potential collaborations between WeGO and NEOM, including connecting Korean solution providers to NEOM, were briefly discussed during the gathering. WeGO looks forward to further strengthening the partnership with NEOM and other cities from the Middle East.
Neom City is a US$500-billion (about 640 trillion won) project led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It is a Saudi mega-project to build a smart city 44 times bigger than Seoul in a desert and mountainous region next to the Red Sea. The exhibition in Seoul will highlight Neom’s main projects such as The Line, Oxagon, Trojena, and Sindalah. Replicas of each venture will be displayed to show their innovative design philosophies and urban planning.
