WeGO and Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts step up partnership to strengthen smart city cooperation with academia

Seoul – Under the theme of Public-Private-People Partnerships (PPPP) oriented approach, WeGO is stepping up its collaboration with academia to strengthen the People Participation element and flourish capacity building programs for youth. 

The Secretary General of WeGO, Ms. Jung Sook Park and the President of Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts Mr. Choi, Yong Hyuk, signed an MOU. Under this agreement, WeGO and Dong-ah Institute are set to collaborate in various ways to provide students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge on smart cities and the 4th industrial revolution. The collaboration includes co-organizing lectures programs for youth, benchmarking WeGO Smart City Champions program which aims to to recruit youth in member cities from all around the world to gain knowledge and build consensus around the future of smart cities.  

Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts is a technical college in South Korea specialized in training professionals in the fields of media design, production, and communications. It’s one of the leading universities in the field of video production and has a School of Broadcasting and Arts Convergence, School of Media Content, School of Entertainment, School of Arts, School of Applied Music. Many famous films and dramas have been shooted in the Don-ah Institute such as Parasites and Squid Games.

An exclusive technical site tour of Dong-ah Institute university facilities took place with the WeGO delegation. Taking the opportunity forward, WeGO and Dong-ah Institute will collaborate on developing smart city contents with an aim to raise awareness among citizens in understanding their important roles in smart sustainable development. 

Ms. Park highlighted that In the period of digital transformation it’s important to be effective and be able to utilize the latest digital solutions, and the partnership with the Dong-ah Institute will be an opportunity to broaden how WeGO can communicate and interact with WeGO members and partners around the world.  

President Choi, of the Dong-ah Institute, welcomed the new partnership with WeGO and expressed his high expectations for the new learning opportunities at an international stage that will be open for students of Dong-ah Institute through collaboration with WeGO.
