WeGO Partners with Leading Smart City Media Outlet SmartCitiesWorld

SEOUL – WeGO took part in member Sejong’s first international Smart City Forum, held on April 27-29. The three-day online event attracted many participants from around the world, as the cumulative number of visitors to the forum replays, promotional videos and exhibitions of winners reached about 180,000 views (as of May 2).
Around 50 experts were invited to contribute to the event organized around 6 main themes: sustainable and safe city, eco-green and energy-efficient city, joint venture and joining governance based on public-private partnership, open data platform and on-demand services in the era of hyperconnectivity, the new normal post the COVID-19 pandemic, and global cooperation and global development.
WeGO’s Secretary General Kyong-yul Lee took part on the last day of the program themed on “Global cooperation and glocal development”, where he presented a model for how cities like
Sejong can collaborate with WeGO. The full presentation can be viewed here.
Other key speakers at the event included KAIST Professor and Masterplanner of Sejong Jeong Jae-seung, and leading futurist Jason Schenker.
Member of WeGO since 2016, Sejong is also recognized as a leading smart city in Korea, as it serves as the administrative capital of Korea and was designed through a masterplan. This event was the first edition of this bi-annual forum organized by Sejong with the aim of introducing the Sejong-type smart city model to an international audience.
