The Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) has developed a self-assessment tool in 11 languages to help users know more about their health status and check possibility of being infected of COVID-19. The tool aims to educate the people in Qatar about the virus and provide assistance if and when seeking medical help.
FEATURES
- The tool is available in English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Nepali, Sinhala, Tamil, Malayalam, Filipino and Bangla, enabling most residents of Qatar to conduct self-assessment in their own mother tongue.
- The tool asks a set of questions based on the guidelines of World Health Organization and the US Communicable Disease Centre.
ONGOING RESULTS
- Given the country’s vast expat community, this tool helps most residents better understand COVID-19 symptoms and efficiently communicate with medical staff, if necessary.
- The tools is expected to have alleviated the work burden of medical staff and facilities by instructing people who have minor symptoms or are at low risk to engage in self-quarantine, instead of visiting medical centers.
