A pandemic drone that can supposedly scan crowds of people to monitor temperature, heart rates, coughing, and even blood pressure is being developed by the Canadian company Dragonfly based on technology from the University of South Australia and the Australian Department of Defence Science and Technology.
FEATURES
- The drones are fitted with a specialized sensor and a computer vision system that can monitor an individual’s temperature, heart and respiratory rates from a distance of up to 5-10 meters away.
ONGOING RESULTS
- Drones will allow for remote surveillance and monitoring of the virus situation, resulting in less human-to-human contact and better management of the COVID-19 impact.
- By monitoring health and respiratory data, the drone is expected to contribute in the better understanding of the health trends related to COVID-19.
