Police in Lombardy are using drones with thermal sensors to check people’s temperatures during the country’s lockdown, aiming to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

FEATURES

  • Developed by DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise, the drone, equipped with a thermal sensor, remotely measures the temperatures of individuals and sends the data periodically to the police. If an individual is found with a higher than normal temperature, police stationed nearby will approach the corresponding individual and re-take his/her temperature manually.

ONGOING RESULTS

  • It allows to help identify people potentially at risk of COVID-19 from a distance and encourage those with mild symptoms to stay at home, helping to minimize human-to-human contact and combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.
