Designated Clinics are separate medical facilities used to screen and test those who are suspected to have COVID-19 before entering main medical facilities. Hundreds of test sites are available across Korea and the tests are mostly free. Anyone who wishes to be tested, can make a visit to a community hospital, general hospital, and clinics that have been designated as testing sites.

FEATURES

  • Designated Clinics are separate medical facilities used to screen and test high-risk patients experiencing symptoms associated to the virus. The designated clinics are used to triage patients with symptoms of COVID-19 at the primary care level, and patients who require further assessment and treatment are referred to main medical facilities.
  • When visiting hospitals or clinics, people are strongly encouraged to wear a mask and avoid using public transportation.

ONGOING RESULTS

  • There are more than 70 Designated Clinics in Seoul alone and hundreds nationwide. The quick fielding of a widely available test is credited with helping South Korea slow the spread of the disease.
  • Low fatality rate: about 0.9%
