May 15, 2019

SEOUL – An official delegation from the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan met with WeGO today, in between bilateral discussions with Seoul Metropolitan Government.

During the meeting, Mr. Talgat Rakhmanberdi as head of the delegation expressed his city’s interest in upcoming WeGO activities along with Seoul’s smart city initiatives. He introduced cases from Nur-Sultan’s rapid digital transformation, including its launch of iKomek—a multi-channel, 24/7 civic participation system.

Nur-Sultan, a founding member of WeGO, is one of the cities under consideration as a possible beneficiary city for funding toward this year’s feasibility study and pilot project. The city is looking for partners in its development of a new city-wide IoT platform.

WeGO took the opportunity during the exchange to invite Nur-Sultan to its joint workshop with the National Information Society Agency (NIA) and the World Bank in Jeju, Korea, in July, along with its Executive Committee (EXCOM) Meeting in Seongnam City, Korea, in October.

The delegation pledged to work more closely with WeGO over the coming years, in partnership with its affiliated Astana Innovations.
