WeGO enters into MOU with KISDI

SEOUL – WeGO entered into an MOU today with ICT policy research institute the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI).
Established in 1985, KISDI collects data; surveys and researches IT policy, regulation, and business; and works toward national development and promotion of the digital economy in the intelligent information society.
WeGO’s Secretary General Kyong-yul Lee welcomed KISDI’s President Kim Dae-hee to the WeGO Secretariat, where the organizations exchanged introductions of their activities before signing the MOU. The Head of KISDI’s Planning & Strategy Team presented his institution’s vision to lead the way forward in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and outlined KISDI’s core areas of research in ICT strategy; telecommunications and spectrum; broadcasting and media; statistics; and international cooperation. WeGO in turn delivered a general overview of its key programs, with focus on those of interest in the new partnership with KISDI.
Under the agreement, WeGO and KISDI commit to developing e-government and smart cities training content and carrying out join events on such topics, as well as to collaborating on KISDI’s recent project of establishing an ICT-based official development assistance (ODA) related to smart cities and e-government.
Secretary General Lee expressed his pleasure to know that KISDI will help WeGO construct smart “homo sapiencities” as its partner. KISDI President Kim thanked his counterpart for the opportunity to cooperate and pledged to work together for the spread of smart cities around the world.
The MOU with KISDI is the fifth of this year, following another with Re-Imagining Cities Foundation concluded last month.
