WeGO smart cities activator in focus at US smart city event
October 2, 2019
WASHINGTON DC – WeGO has taken part in Smart Cities Week DC organized by its partner Smart Cities Council (SCC), as it continues to develop its jointly customized platform for project planning and case sharing, the smart cities activator.
Smart Cities Week focuses on data-driven readiness for local governments and smart city experts to network and share knowledge, and is carried out in cities around the world each year. Since its start on Monday, the Washington DC edition of the event attracted 500+ participants from 100+ cities in 40+ countries.
Together with cities from across the US and abroad, as well as interested institutions and researchers, WeGO attended the smart cities activator training workshop, where SCC’s Managing Director presented the activator’s core features, including “activator plan” to help cities initiate their smart city projects by mapping out the key stakeholders and their roles among others, and “activator exchange” which serves as a public directory of projects that serves to guide cities by the successes and failures already experienced elsewhere.
In the session on “International Smart Cities: Lessons from Abroad,” WeGO presented how it will use the activator to develop and improve products and services for its members. A licensee of the platform since July, WeGO is developing its own templates in the system to carry out a range of its activities and to develop its own smart city guidelines, taking advantage of functions for its diverse network such as a customizable glossary and a plugin with Google Translate.
The activator will be made available to all members from early 2020, starting with the 4th WeGO Smart Sustainable City Awards.
