September 6, 2019
SEOUL – For the past two days, WeGO has been attending one of Korea’s largest smart city events, the World Smart Cities Expo (WSCE), and took part in an ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN)-related forum to further promote its supporting activities to partners and stakeholders.
The annually held expo, hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), has attracted over 20,000 domestic and international participants to its exhibition area, sessions, and side events.
WeGO staff attended the ASCN Cooperation Forum, organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre, and presented on its activities to support the implementation of the 26 smart city action plans (SCAPs) of ASCN. WeGO also networked with representatives from Battambang (Cambodia), Davao (Philippines), Iskandar (Malaysia), Luang Prabang (Laos), Than Thie Hue (Vietnam), and Yangon (Myanmar), and invited them to attend the WeGO-ASCN Mayoral Conference in November. Other interventions at the forum were made by Korean national and local government officials, who shared best practices in different smart city areas.
WeGO is now in preparations for its upcoming mayoral conference, to be held on November 21-22 in Seoul, which will give ASEAN local leaders and prospective partners and stakeholders a range of targeted matchmaking and knowledge sharing opportunities in the advancement of their smart city initiatives.
