WeGO takes part in Daejeon UCLG Congress to foster Smart City Development

SEOUL –The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization visited Daejeon to attend the 2022 Daejeon UCLG World Congress. WeGO’s Secretary General, Ms. Jung-sook Park joined the congress to take part in several sessions and meet with various local government representatives.

Under the theme of “Local and Regional Governments Breaking Through as One,” the Daejeon UCLG World Congress is gathering over 1,000 local governments to seek cooperation to contribute to the peace and advancement of humanity.

Together with the World Economic Forum and Metropolis, WeGO co-organized a session under the theme “Implementing smart city policies responsibility” in which presenters highlighted how cities need to proactively set out rules and policies in preparation for smart city technology to encourage its sustainable development.

In addition, WeGO’s Secretary General took part at FMDV’s General Assembly. WeGO and FMDV have been partners since the signing of an MOU in 2017 and now WeGO is also part of FMDV’s board members.

Lastly, WeGO also had the opportunity to meet with a delegation of representatives from the Geneva Cities Hub, led by its president and former Mayor of Geneva, Mr. Sami Kanaan; and a delegation from Tehran, led by the Deputy of Int’l Affairs at Tehran Municipality and Asian Mayors Forum Secretary General, Mr. Hamid Reza Gholamzadeh, to discuss general cooperation areas.
