His Excellency Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora, Ambassador of Costa Rica to Korea, visited the WeGO Secretariat to meet for the first time with WeGO’s new Secretary General, Ms. Jung Sook Park. The Ambassador congratulated Ms. Park for her new role in the organization and shared the past cooperation between WeGO and the Embassy of Costa Rica in Korea.

WeGO Secretary General visited the Colombian Embassy to meet with H.E. Juan Carlos Caiza Rosero to discuss cooperation between both entities. The ambassador will be connecting WeGO with two of the main city associations in Colombia, the Colombian Association of Capital Cities and the Colombian Federation of Municipalities. This meeting is an important cornerstone in the development of WeGO’s network in the Latin American Region.

Andrew Lim, the Research & Development Attaché Quebec Government Office in Seoul, visited WeGO’s Secretary General to discuss smart city cooperation opportunities between the WeGO and the Quebec Bureau in Seoul. Mr. Lim also shared the latest trends and technologies that the Canadian region is well known for, including its cinematography, videogame, and AI industries.

WeGO is launching a youth program to build the capacity of young people in South Korea and abroad on the topic of smart cities. Open free of charge to all under 35, this program is set to counter the issues of digital divide brought about by the accelerated digitalization brought upon by COVID-19 pandemic. Major domestic and international universities are supporting this program which is starting on March 4.
