Seoul, November 01, 2023 – WeGO Secretary General Ms. Jung Sook Park gave an opening remark at the UN ITU Webinar dedicated to digital transformation: How to successfully develop People-Centred citiverse?

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Metaverse Institute, with other UN agencies are organizing a series of webinars on “Digital Transformation” running from September 2021. The WeGO Secretary-General highlighted the need for a human-centered approach to smart city development, where technology is used to solve practical challenges and improve the well-being of residents.

“Cities play a critical role in making tangible projects, and policies. Citiverse is a very fresh and timely matter to discuss for time to come to us. WeGO celebrates and supports this initiative on People-Centered Cityverse led by ITU, which is expected to bring about a digital transformation that makes cities more livable, sustainable, and equitable for all citizens . We believe that the digital transformation of cities holds vast opportunities for innovation and inclusion.” – said Ms. Jung Sook Park.
