SEOUL – The City of Seongnam in Korea has been chosen to become the host of next year’s WeGO Executive Committee Meeting. It will be the first time that the EXCOM will be held in Korea.
EXCOM 2019 is tentatively set to take place in October 2019.
The annual meeting brings together 20 city members, including WeGO’s President and Vice President Cities, who make executive decisions on the management of WeGO. Key items on the agenda focus on setting the institution’s direction, establishing three-year strategic plans, and improving programs and other activities.
Seongnam, located 20 km south of Seoul, is the second largest city in Gyeonggi Province with a population of 960,000. In pursuing its goal to be the most advanced innovation hub of Asia, the city has announced its vision of “Asia Silicon Valley, Seongnam” and initiated several strategic projects toward this aim. It is also the seat of Pangyo Techno Valley, one of Korea’s core high-tech industrial clusters for science technology innovation and global ICT convergence technology.
Seongnam has been an active member of WeGO since 2015.
WeGO and Seongnam welcome active participation in EXCOM 2019, and more information about the event will be shared as it develops.
